Aerosol Emission from Burning Appliances

Shinichi Nishidate on November 5, 2007 | 717 Views

I send a pulse which the title was Practical Use of Best Mix Energy before. In that message I introduced establishing new “Japan Wood Pellet Association”.The association was started on Sep.21 happily. At the establishment party I was offered to have a lecture class of wood biomass burning appliances safety. So I prepared for the lecture class after that.First of all I researched for EN standard(EN14785), ASTM standard(E1505-95) andCAN/CSA standard(B415.1-00). And then I researched for the biomass fuel disseminationof EU. Oct.18 I attended the lecture presentation of Research Center for Advanced Scienceand Technology 20th Anniversary of the University of Tokyo, and in the lecture I hadvery interested in atmosphere VOC and Aerosol which affects warming climate, and

the study has been done by Kondo Laboratory (http://www.atmos.rcast.u-tokyo.ac.jp/).

Aerosol is very affecting factor for climate fluctuation as same as CO2(GHG), and also IPCC reported the existence of this aerosol. Aerosol interrupts the radiation of the earth heat to space and the heat from the sun. Black carbon which is a kind of aerosol is emitted by incomplete combustion of fossil and biomass. In Japan we are going to disseminate biomass wood pellet fuel by the boatload near futurefor changing the fossil fuel to another biomass fuel.I recognized that the prescription of aerosol is one of important things to stop the warming climate, all the while we think about mainly CO2. By using biomass fuel, if aerosol is increasing in atmosphere, it is no meaning. And I commenced to check out some foreign standard, and I found out that the CAN/CSAstandard(B415.1-00) has a particulate emission rate prescription. In these I think we should have a common recognition and to have common standard. In Japan we are now going to start the utilization of biomass fuel, so we must make devising fair guidelines.I am happy to receive some opinions or information of aerosol and standard.Last week I visited Tunisia during 6 days as my late summer holiday. Tunisia’s skywas clear and blue, people are very beautiful and bright especially children.I could learn and feel many things from Africa Tunisia in this travel.
