Renewable Energy in the Developing Countries

Franklin Ossuetta on December 18, 2007 | 928 Views

Recently the government of Indonesia, a country with a very large population decided it was going to stop the felling of trees for Timber and Wood as trade commodity. Instead they chose to opt for GHG Trade carbon credits. Where are the incentives for other African countries that have a vast area of Jungles, Bushes, Forests, Villages etc. to follow the Indonesian example?

The incentives for African countries who have little or no electricity [ i.e less than 50watt Per Capita Consumption per person] to work towards Greener Energy Sources is not there at all. Would it not be better to simply install Wind Turbine Farms and Solar Mirror Farms right from the start. Rather than set up Coal Fired plants and large Diesel Generators only to  be asked to switch to a Go-For-Green 2020 [or 2040] target as the European Union and America has been chasing.

It makes better sense to start creating incentives for the African continent so that these countries do not tow the path of Fossil Fueled Power Plants for the rapid industrial growth that is much needed. These incentives can come in the form of Grants, Product Discounts, Long Term Loans, Technical Partnerships, Staff Training etc. sponsored by the Western Governmets in coalition. One suggetion is such Programs and Funding must be etsablished with the actual local power companies and consultants which have been screened by thier past dealings with foreign partners regardless of capacity. Take some que from the Google [internet search engine] company and their recent search for Renewable Energy Plant Technology that would be cheaper than Coal Fueled Plants

Lets stop going round in circles......little wonder Mr. Al Gore recieved the Noble prize. Its better to "Prevent A Problem" than to solve it.

LOOK OUT FOR THE LONG VIEW.......THE BIG PICTURE.......THE WHOLE WORLD.
