I posted a newslog entry here covering recent tutorial sessions at ITU on energy saving in telecommunications. There were some very interesting speakers, including Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe (Nigeria), Advisor to the President, and one of the Lead Authors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 4^th assessment report, who presented his presentation via a web-based conferencing tool and Paolo Bertoldi (European Commission)
also via the web. Presentations can be found here. Understanding how information and communication technologies effect the environment – both in terms of power use and in terms of mitigating the effects of climate change – is an important new focus for ITU. As posted before there are two events this year looking at this important topic and a new portal is under development to provide an umbrella to the ongoing activities in the radio, standardization and development sectors.
