Better Batteries for Hybrids!

Kristen Lee on May 16, 2008 | 717 Views

Friends have told me that owning a Prius hybrid from Toyota can be a great alternative to gasoline only vehicles, but you'd better be ready for battery issues at some point.

Enter PowerGenix with a new nickel-zinc battery. Introducing zinc means less toxicity, lower cost, and more chemical stability than current batteries. Recent advancements have given nickel-zinc batteries a longer lifespan, too.

There are still drawbacks surrounding zinc mining, and nickel is notoriously expensive.

PowerGenix seems ready to produce. I'm keeping an eye open for reviews on their new battery.
