Big Push for Solar Residential Rooftops in the US
While I had heard of Duke Power's commitment to put $100M into solar, I didn't expect timely development of project plans and implementation.
According to Greentech Media, Duke Power has already applied for regulatory approval from the state of North Carolina to start installing solar panels on home rooftops, schools, and other large buildings. Upon approval, Duke plans to start the project within 6 months.

I find it interesting that utility companies can pass along some extra expenses to the customer, as long as these do not total over $10 annually. As a North Carolina native, I'm happy to see that renewable energy mandates are making change. That's worth a slight increase in energy bills to me, but will the next North Carolinian agree?
Six months after project approval, I'll certainly be checking in on Duke's progress, as well as the public's reaction.
