Compulsory electricity labelling in Upper Austria favours renewables
In Upper Austria it's mandatory on each electricity bill, for energy suppliers to state the source of electricity being invoiced and how it was generated.
Consumers therefore know the percentage of 'green' electricity (all renewables except for hydro), and what part was generated using fossil fuels, hydroelectricity or nuclear energy.

For 2007 they fixed a target of 4% for the part generated by renewable energy sources. Upper Austrians also have a guaranteed right to feed back into the grid all the energy they generate using renewable sources.
