On a même commencé à polluer l'Univers

Suite à un reportage à la télévision, j'ai pris conscience que non seulement on pollue notre planète mais on pollue aussi l'Univers. Si la possibilité théorique de mettre un satellite sur orbite autour de la Terre fut signalée en 1687 par Isaac Newton, il a fallu attendre le 4 octobre 1957 pour voir le lancement du premier satellite artificiel, Spoutnik 1, par les soviétiques. Depuis plusieurs milliers d'appareils ont été lancés dans le ciel. Ces satellites, fusées ou autres sondes ont laissé de multiples débris qui polluent passablement l'espace. De ce fait, il est de plus en plus difficile de mettre un satellite en orbite et s'assurer qu'il ne rentrera pas en collision avec un satellite "déchet". Il nous est impossible d’en observer en milieu de nuit, mais plutôt en tout début de soirée ou le matin parce qu’ils sont éclairés par la lumière du soleil qu’ils reflettent.

L'espace est si grand qu'il a du paraître hors de tout danger écologique. Il fut un temps où "tout le monde" balancait les batteries usagées de bateaux dans les lacs suisses. La pollution du XXième siècle restera longtemps marquée dans nos terres. Mais si on devait comparer la pollution univers versus la pollution de la mer, j'ai le sentiment que nous parlons d'un différentiel de 1/1 million.
