Practical Use of Best Mix Energy

Shinichi Nishidate on September 12, 2007 | 788 Views

Practical Use of Best Mix EnergyDecember 1997 global warming conference was held in Kyoto Japan, the conference adopted the volume of CO2 emission of each country as Kyoto Protocol and had became operative on February 2005.According to those Japan shall reduce the volume of CO2 emission 6% based on 1990.So our government has been addressing many kind of policy for reducing CO2 and usingof fossil fuel. And a resource research committee which is handled by our government showed a target of biomass energy use (thermal using), the target volume is 3,080,000Kl(changing to oil volume) until 2010.

Well a few years ago we expected that fuel cell power system would be manufactured and expanded 2,200,000kW in 2010, but now according to some trade papers, number of 2,200,000kW was collected to 1,100,000kW. The reason why there are some problems of technique, manufacturing cost, etc for practical use. But soon these problems will be cleared. The main use of fuel cell is expected for cars and residential use (mainly 1kW class) in Japan. About a half century, our association certificated for residential kerosene heating appliances, so we intend to consider for residential use. But now we begun to certificate for residential wooden pellet heating appliances since 2004, and also we are preparing for certification of residential wooden pellet boiler.

Thinking of prevention of earth warming, I expect that thermal power generations, paper mills ,saw mills and industrial factories use biomass wood fuel more actively (actually wooden chip or pellet are used in Japan) to prevent from warming climate. And major premise of these, the resource of wooded energy should be controlled appropriately, if not, forest will be destroyed and warming climate will be accelerated. In 2007 the consumption of wood pellet in Japan was about 18,000 ton, we shall expand to 10 times, 100 times of it near future. Well in our standard, we use the heat energy of kerosene is 46,300kJ/kg(HHV) and of the wood is 16,900 kJ/kg(HHV), as these the thermal energy of wood is about  40% of kerosene ,kerosene is superior than wood in thermal energy ,so I think we should select the best energy resources or best mixed energy to adjust for the purpose. This October 1 we shall establish Japan Wood Pellet Association, I will do my best effort to support this new born association for which it has good job and contribute to stop earth warming climate. Perhaps it needs to long time, much effort and perseverance, but we don’t have much time, we must do it speedier. So I hope that IEC shall produce international safety and environmental standards more. And I hope we will make some strong international personal chains together,I feel we need the balance for development of economy and for protection the environment of earth. And also one of the important points is what our prosperity is not brought only by economical benefits. Sky and Sea is blue and deep truly and have connected, The Earth is one and all for us.
